London Fashion Week Highlights

Wednesday 21 September 2016
Henry Holland

This show made me think back a little to Altuzzara at NYFW, as they've both opted for a few pieces using the gingham print, and similar designs. Which makes me this were definitely going to see some of this Spring/Summer 17'. Holland has also used the bardot style tops and dresses which I always talk about as my favourite style, as it's super cute and girly. Looks as though he's also take inspiration from Dolce & Gabbana's previous collection with the sheer black garment, and red rose design. & lastly there's a small sense of 70s era with the wide leg trousers and sequin tops.

Barbara Casasola

Casasola's collection looks like a world away from the ever so daring collection of Henry Holland's. It's super simple, with neutral tones. My favourite outfit is the one on the far left, I love the sense of masculinty, with the blazer. I also love the jumpsuit on the far right. Jumpsuit's are one of my favourite pieces of clothing to wear, and I'm glad that we'll be seeing them still next year.

Fashion East

The last collection that caught my eye, which I wouldn't usually look at, is Fashion East's latest collection. I guess it's just super weird and crazy that it stood out to me. I like that they've used the slip dress but switched it up with some sexy lace and some cool designs. & the rest of the pieces are just extremely weird but wonderful with lots of design and pops of colour.

Current Wardrobe Staples

Bardot

I think a Bardot top is the main wardrobe staple of S/S 16, and will definitely be staying around a lot longer by the look of S/S 17 catwalks. I've spoken ton's in previous posts on how much I adore this top, due to it's girly and sophisticated presence. You can find a bardot top in so many different, colours, patterns, garment style, whether is a top or a dress, it's endless. All these top's above can be purchased from ASOS.

Bomber

I think the bomber jacket is definitely the most obvious staple at current. Walk into any high street store, whether its Topshop, H&M, New Look, or surf any online store, Missguided, Boohoo, or Misspap and you'll find ton's of different bombers. It's the jacket of this season and it's perfect because there are so many to choose from. The classic bomber is the khaki green but that was abit last year, now there's longline bombers, or silky patterned ones. Great to add a little edge to an outfit.

Culottes

Culottes are my favourite trousers at the moment! I find them so flattering and there's so many different ones to choose from. Well just look at the ones i've linked. Denim, Velvet, Striped, pink & theres so many more in all high street and designer stores at the moment. This is definitely more of Spring/Summer trouser rather than a winter, as they are shorter than full length and they can tend to be quite a thin material. This is another staple piece which can be dressed up and down to suit any occasion.

Mules

I've never actually owned a pair of mules myself but I am a massive fan of them. I think they make an outfit look a whole lot more stylish. Although I've showed you just heeled mules, they do also come in flats such as loafer style. These are definitely a staple piece in a women's wardrobe this season they could be dressed up and of course dressed down as you can buy these flat, if you prefer comfort.

London Fashion Week Outfit Picks

Saturday 17 September 2016
Day 1

Day 1 of London Fashion Week I think shouldn't be too "out there" & slightly more subtle. Therefore I've picked out this extremely comfy black midi shirt dress from Missguided, as it's a great piece to be dressed up. I've paired it with this cool, high leg, khaki lace up boots which instantly adds a bit of edginess. Lastly this really cool monochrome, stripe hard clutch for Zara is perfect for a quirky touch.

Day 2

For me personally once I've got over day 1 of London fashion week wearing something a little more simple and not as eye catching, day 2 is the day to go a little more daring and noticeable. Shift dresses are everything at moment! wether your wearing it simply on it's own or layering it with a tee underneath. But I think simply on it's own, in this sun kissed, earthy tone, paired with this incredible neutral toned heeled boots, very similar to the ones worn by Kourtney Kardashian at the moment, and lastly if the weather is a little rubbish, which it's always mostly raining in London. Layer your shift with a cool, on trend bomber, on the shoulders of course!

Day 3

I love fresh white tones paired with denim, and it's perfect for a September Fashion Week because it's still summer (or meant to be, minus the rain). I love these light wash denim jeans as there have the raw hem, which is being done in mostly all high street stores at the moment. You can even DIY and do this yourself, by just cutting the tips of your jeans off, I recommend trying on a cheap (Primark) jeans first, or a really old pair that you might chuck out because they are no longer stylish or on trend. This oversized top I think is perfect in this outfit as it's paired with tight skinny jeans so it gives a little contrast. Lastly these silver metallic shoes, are super on trend with the clear block heel and perspex straps.

Day 4

In this outfit I tried to incorporate a couple trends i'd seen on the high street everywhere! Including the bardot which I previously spoke about in a post, I love this trend! I think the shoulders on a women's body is beautiful to show off and this top does that with style and sophistication. What I love about this particular body is that it also adds the choker which is such a statement accessory and extremely popular. Second part of this outfit is the satin joggers. The sporty trend was back this season in high street stores, and these caught my eye on Missguided. They are relaxed, comfy but can look great dressed up. Lastly a pair of Public Desire, clear block heeled shoes, these again add a little sports luxe with the laces.

Day 5

Everyone loves a comfy day at Fashion week, all those days after wearing massive inch heels and uncomfortable dresses or what else you chose to wear. I've picked out an outfit that incorporates both style and comfort. I quite like the tailored look on a women, and once my eyes caught these white pinstripe, belted trousers, I knew they'd make a great outfit. I thought the lace hemmed bralet would make the outfit a little more girly, especially as I paired it with this blazer, which if your daring enough can be worn on it's own, and again it comes with a choker, statement piece as I previously explained. Shoes for this outfit is a metallic silver loafer trainer, super comfortable but still keeps it looking stylish . Lastly I've chosen this cross body bag which can I also be used a clutch, i loved the quirky quote and look of this bag, definitely going to get stopped for a photo.

NYFW Street Style

Wednesday 14 September 2016

(All photo credits to Vogue.com)

Street Style is my favourite! Anytime I need a little inspiration to incorporate into my own outfits, I'm always checking the latest trends on the streets. Fashion Week is just the best to see how style changes across the globe from New York, London, Paris and Milan. As I am unable to travel to New York City for the shows I've had to do with online Vogue, to see all the latest street outfits.

NYFW Highlights & S/S 17 Trend Predictions

Vera Wang

Vera Wang's collection definitely stood out to me as I love the monochrome that ran throughout. I could definitely see some future trends stand out, such as the bardot which has been a massive hit spring/summer 2016, and by the looks of Wang's collection it'll be back again. The bardot is such an amazing trend, it's super girly, and has a sense of sophistication. I also see a couple of pieces bring back the peplum, not a trend I was in love with but flatters an hourglass figure beautifully. Vera incorporated a lot of oversized pieces into her collection this season, including extremely long arms on many of the pieces. Last but not least in the collection was embellishment! She used oversized pearls on a few of the dresses, and whats not to love about a little embellishment.

Altuzarra

The next designer at NYFW who stood out to me was one I hadn't heard of before but definitely hope to see again and that is Altuzarra. I loved absolutely everything about his collection, there was so much going on which made it mesmerizing and insanely interesting. To highlight the collection I would say it was very feminine with a sense of romance. It involved textures such as denim and snakeskin. Prints that involved fruit and gingham. Red lace lace embellishment. & very beautiful, feminine silhouettes.  I loved it!

Oscar De La Renta

Oscar De La Renta's fashion week collections always catch my eye every season! He always has something new to offer, and this collection is no different. Although I feel as if he has brought Christmas to summer with the evening wear sporting so much embellishment, gold metallics and feathers. However the main aspect which stood to me was the fresh white lace pieces perfect for summer.
